Leo reads printed matter of any period and functions as general-purpose OCR — but what it's built for is the historical print that conventional OCR handles badly: early-modern founts, blackletter and Fraktur, the long s, ligatures, typographic abbreviation, uneven inking, show-through. Where OCR tools normalise or mangle these, Leo transcribes what is on the page.
